Deer Group Tour

Deer Group

8:30 am departure with our guides via cruiser ocean going boat to our camp in the Deer Group Islands. Our staff will have already set up our camp and the sea kayaks will be waiting there for you. After acquainting ourselves with our beach front home we'll prepare for a day of kayaking and exploring. We begin with paddling lessons and a review of safety procedures. On the water we travel as a group, staying close together for four to six hours of paddling each day (dependent on abilities of the group members and weather conditions). Since we're here to view nature and enjoy the scenery, we'll travel at a moderate pace, resting when necessary at some of the many beautiful islands and beaches close at hand. We may choose to keep our camp at one location or to move it to another island to allow for more exploring.

Beautiful shell beach landings await us on many of the islands in the Deer Group. We will visit the island archipelago referred to as the Chain Group, search out impressive sea caves and wander through towering forests of cedar and hemlock.

Tour Departures every Friday at 8:30am returns Monday at 5:00pm

Four days Catered ~ $1099 per person
Includes cruiser shuttle.

From the onset of our trip you will be well informed on how to use and care for the equipment. We teach the basic fundamentals of ocean kayaking and we travel as a group staying close together. Our equipment is top of the line quality.

The evening before your tour we would like you to meet us at 1167 Helen Road in Ucluelet. Come and meet your guides, we will give you dry bags to put your clothes in and offer packing advice.

Day one, we meet at 8:30 am at 1167 Helen Road in Ucluelet. The tour starts off with an exciting one hour ride by boat in the early morning with our kayaks, guides and camping equipment. On route to the Deer Group Islands guests will have the opportunity to take in the scenery of the outside west coast waters, rocky bluffs with wind whipped trees, a colony of sea lions, and a historic native whaling beach. Upon arrival, we will set up our camp. Sometimes we keep our camp in one location for the duration of the trip and do day-trips from the site, other times we may choose to move the camp during the trip

Upon registering we will forward you a list of what to bring on the trip and a medical form. The medical form must be completed and returned to us upon registering. Each participant must sign a waiver of liability before we depart on the tour.
